Kurohime

最近日本の昔話を読んでいます。最後の読んだは「大沼池の黒竜」と言う昔話。大好きです！読む後本当に絵を描きたかったです。
話の主人公は黒姫と言いますがどうして黒姫と言うか話で説明しませんから黒人でしょうからだと思いました。
ま、実は、本当に平安の服を着ている黒人を描きたかったです。XD

Lately I've been reading japanese fairy tales. The last one I've read is called "The black dragon from lake Onuma " and is about a dragon falling in love with a princess. He asks the princess her hand, but in those time a princess couldn't decide those kind of things by herself, so the dragon needs to ask her father. The said father, refusing to give his daughter to a monster (as well mannered as he may be), resorts to violent ways to make the dragon give up on his daughter. Blinded by both physical and emotional pain, the dragon then tries to destroy the whole region with a terrible storm and flood. But the princess fell in love with the dragon and can't bear to see the pain of the villagers who are also victim of the storm even though they did nothing wrong. So she decides on her own to marry the dragon despite her father's orders. She then makes the dragon realize how bad his actions were, while acknowledging that what his father did was horrible too, and they both live happily ever after watching over the whole region up until now.
I love this story and after reading it I really wanted to make a drawing about it…
In the story the princess is called "Kurohime" which means "The black princess" but it is never said why she is called the black princess, so I thought maybe it was because her skin was black…
